Connie is an American birder
residing in Angola. It was her first visit to Malaysia and before coming
to KL, she was birding in Singapore's Bukit Timah and Sungei Buloh
Wetland.
Therefore, i recommended Bukit Rengit for a different experience and bird
species. This will truly be her first introduction to the tropical birds
of Malaysia.
We started the day as early as
6am and the journey to the site and back to Kuala Lumpur is about 3 hours.
It started to drizzle as early as 11am and stopped a little while when we
decided to have a break for lunch. During the 8 hours in Bukit Rengit, we
managed to see 46 species of birds while another 5 other species were
heard.
Some of the notable species
from the trip includes a pair of scarlet-rumped trogon perching right next
to the road, black-and-red broadbill, chestnut-winged cuckoo,
red-billed malkoha, and oriental pied hornbill.
