Flora & Fauna Survey

As a nature outfitters which comprises a team of nature enthusiasts, guides and botanist, we conduct a range of preliminary flora and fauna surveys for a variety of purposes. Our services includes inventory, photography, identification and report writing based on data collected from on-site survey.

Our preliminary survey is designed to observe and identify wildlife and vegetation within a site. From field work, the results are documented to shows classification of species which includes status under IUCN and Wildlife Act 1972. Apart from being part of an environmental statement in reports for large development area, such surveys and documentation provides critical information for decision maker such as Wildlife Department (PERHILITAN) for their planning and management needs.

The Equipment

First and foremost, for any survey works regardless its location, we have to consider the accessibility. This of course can be solved (most of the time) with a vehicle, a 4WD is most practical depending on the area of survey and weather. Then, among other requirements for our line of work include GPS handheld, camera, spotting scope, binocular, field guides, and plaster of paris. Sometimes if we are lucky to visit a site with abandoned hut or even luckier if there are staff quarter, accommodation and water should not be a major issue to worry about. Setting up a campsite is probably the next best thing for us when we need to stay overnight in the wild. But there are also times when the site is barren and without clean water supply, we had stay outside the study area.
